This picture is one of several chosen to feature in 'The Birds of Gloucestershire', to be published at the end of 2013. It will also be displayed at the Bird Fair at Rutland Water, August 2013. It was taken on the footpath between Great Barrington and Great Rissington in the Cotswolds on a winter's afternoon when I had set out to photograph Short-eared Owls. I noticed several Red Kites flying nearby, and as they flew across the rising moon I seized my opportunity to take this picture - one of my favourites.
