Causeway to Holy Island

Causeway to Holy Island

Twice a day at high tide the causeway from the mainland to Holy Island is under water, but once on the island the road is normally above the high tide mark. Whenever there is a spring tide, however, the road from the Snook to the main car park by Lindisfarne is submerged. We discovered this when we parked at the Snook to explore the wildflowers there, and we were marooned for a couple of hours. I took this picture looking towards Holy Island as the waters were receding.
