Hadrian's Wall

Hadrian's Wall

Looking east along Hadrian's Wall on the approach to Housesteads Roman Fort, or Vercovicium, on a stormy afternoon in June. Built around AD 124 and taking ten years to complete, the wall is 73 miles long. In one of the most unspoilt places in England, Hadrian's Wall is located on the edge of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
